Rare Ride, 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver For Sale By Owner

Zimmer Quicksilver is a luxury coupe model built by an automaker from the United States, Zimmer Motorcars Corporation, based in Syracuse, New York. The company was founded in 1978 by Paul Zimmer, an automotive industrialist whose hobby was designing model vehicles. Zimmer Motorcars Corporation was founded to become a neo-classical car manufacturer, producing cars with classic, vintage, or retro looks, but based on a modern platform.

Zimmer's first production car was the vintage-looking Golden Spirit, produced from 1978 to 1988. And what we're offering here, his second model was the Zimmer Quicksilver, a mid-engined two-door luxury car based on the Pontiac Fiero. Manufactured from 1984 to 1988, the Zimmer Quicksilver became one of the most iconic luxury coupes of the mid-1980s, but at a price many say is outrageous. That costs over $50,000, for a car that's a rebuilt Fiero.

Chevrolet V8 Engine

Even so, the performance of Zimmer Quicksilver is quite satisfactory. Originally or mostly carrying a mid-engine V6 engine with a capacity of 2.8-liter, Quicksilver only needs about 9 seconds to go from 0-60 mph, before reaching a top speed of 121 mph or 195 km/hour. What was unique was, because Zimmer Quicksilver was closely related to the Pontiac Fiero, owners could even bring their Quicksilver for service and maintenance at various Pontiac dealers at that time.

But not for this one, from what we have seen here one is powered by a Chevrolet V8, and no story behind this, so if you're curious please ask personal to the seller. Backed by automatic transmission and 88123 miles shown at odometer.

interior, 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver

The interior is decent for its age and show of wear but not rot. Seems only cleaning enough, and hopefully, all instrument inside still works properly. The photo angle doesn't represent all interior sides well, please see and a closer impaction is a much better way if you seriously want it.

1986 Zimmer Quicksilver Profile

Zimmer Quicksilver was discontinued in 1988, just as production of the Fiero ended, with no more than 200 units released to the market in total. Today, the Zimmer Quicksilver is still one of the luxury coupes of the '80s that has intrigued car collectors.

Detail by owner
Very rare, 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver. One of only 170 ever manufactured by Zimmer motors in Florida. Runs and drives, but needs TLC. In storage for many years. This one is powered by a Chevrolet. V8 mounted behind the driver seat.. Very cool. Probably the only one you will ever see.
