1941 Studebaker Commander Skyway

Here's American classic 2-door sedan by Studebaker, it's a Studebaker Commander Skyway built in 1941 and also very rare car. This seldom seen car was the first mass produced car with a curved one-piece windshield. It is 1 of 2845 produced.

For your consideration is a 1941 Studebaker Commander (Skyway) Sedan Coupe. This seldom seen car was the first mass produced car with a curved one-piece windshield. Standard equipment included the fender skirts and whitewall tires. It is 1 of 2845 produced. This is no ordinary Studebaker as it has a modern drivetrain and comfort features such as P/S, P/B and A/C. This car maintains its art deco look yet is a great car for those antique road tours. The body was professionally re-painted in its original colors in 2008. During that process, only one tiny spot of rust was found in the floor pan and that was repaired. No patch panels were needed for the body. The paint has a few minor flaws but you would need to closely examine the entire car to find them. It has a smooth even finish with no orange peel and it shines brightly. The chrome is in very good condition. I spite of its age it too shines brightly. I particularly like the attention to detail given to the red decorative striping on the front and rear bumpers. It looks classy! The car has 15" whitewalls with hubcaps from a Studebaker Lark. As indicated above, the car remains stock in appearance and was designed to reflect an art deco theme. It would look great in South Beach. The interior was already done when the car was bought in 2005. We were advised that It was finished to stock specification using NOS materials when it was done. Only a very small seam split on the drivers' seat is the only flaw here. The dash was re-painted with the car in 2008 and has a brilliant look to it. The Steering column and tilt wheel are from a Chevy Caprice but use a Studebaker emblem on the horn button. Much of the drivetrain came from a 1968 Chevy Caprice also. The car has a 305 cu. In. V8 engine, a 200R4 automatic overdrive transmission and a Caprice rear end (3:42 ratio). A new timing chain and oil pump were replaced prior to the installation of the engine and an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4 barrel carburetor ere added as well.. A mustang II front clip was used to add modern front suspension. This application was done very well as the car tracks and steers just as it should. New front springs and shocks were installed about 3 years ago. The engine work was done prior to current ownership. Our understanding is that everything was in good order so no rebuilding effort was needed, other than the pre-cautionary parts mentioned above. Today, the car runs and drives as it should with no problems. This car was built for tours and as such has had a number of comfort and reliability components incorporated into its' build. The wiring was re-done using EZ wiring components and the battery as re-located to the trunk. It has an auxiliary brake and turn signal light over the rear license plate. A Summit aluminum radiator and an auxiliary fuel pump are installed. The car has Power Steering and a dual master cylinder for the power brakes. It has dual exhausts with headers but uses mufflers that give the car a soft rumble on acceleration. The 18 gallon gas tank is by ReNew. The A/C system is by Southern and blows cold and acts as a heater as well. Finally, the car has 2 speed electric wipers and new seals were added for the windshield, doors back window and trunk. So, her e is your chance to be unique.
