Original, 1970 Mercury Marauder

Original, 1970 Mercury Marauder

It's the high-performance model of the full-size Mercury line, called the Marauder. It's the second generation of the Marauder short life for him, only two years model hit the market in 1969 and 1970. As shown here from the final 1970 model, they were revived by the third generation in 2003, and terminated by the 2004 model, then never came back, discontinued forever. We think they have bad luck with its name. Currently, this one Marauder has been restored ready to run away.

It would be fun to know how old we all when this car was born and how many of us were still alive when this 1970 Mercury Marauder X-100 was ready to kick the road again. This unique luxury muscle car can be found here on Craigslist looking for a new owner.

Detail by owner
1970 Mercury Marauder x100 2-door hardtop with the 429 4-barrel engine in ivory with the blacked out rear deck and brown deluxe interior. Extremely nice Florida car from the estate of an Orlando man with no modifications and only 63,715 Miles. The original 429 11.0:1 compression ratio 360 horse engine is completely stock & unmodified. Still fitted with the original 4-barrel carb, cast iron intake, cast iron exhaust manifolds, and factory aircleaner assembly. All original stickers are still in place and has never been apart. Runs perfectly on premium pump and there are no issues; no smoke, no leaks, no noises. Starts immediately and settles into a smooth idle with a deep exhaust note. With 360 horsepower and 486 b.ft.of torque, spins the tires with the throttle and accelerates briskly; feels like a 428 Grand Prix. The factory heavy-duty C6 automatic transmission shifts perfectly and the factory 3.00 positraction Ford 9" rearend allows relaxed cruising. Power steering and power disc brakes for safe easy driving. Extremely nice driving car. 100% original interior in outstanding condition. 6-way power 60/40 split front bench seat with the center armrest; works properly in all 6 directions and is in perfect condition with no wear. Perfect original carpets with no marks. Perfect original headliner. Power windows (all work properly) and ice cold factory air conditioning. Rim-Blow steering wheel; also works perfectly. No cracks in the dash, no sunfade on the gauges, and no heat cracks in the steering wheel. Exceptionally nice interior, very comfortable; that is all original. Excellent body with no dents, no dings, no wavers and I cannot find any body filler or signs of collision repair. The paint is the correct color (Ivory) and looks great with the blacked-out rear deck. The paint was resprayed the original color2013. Original chrome front & rear bumpers in good but on perfect condition. There is a small dent under the rear bumper (can only be seen if laying on the ground) and the chrome is goodj Very good original brightwork and trim. Excellent glass and all windows work smoothly. Factory hide-away headlights operate perfectly; opening & closing with the headlight switch. Factory X100 only alloy wheels with the brushed stainless steel trim rings fitted with P225-70-15 white wall radials. Rear fender skirts for that long low look. The trunk contains the original carpet, original jack, and spare wheel. Just professionally detailed; buffed, hand-waxed and turnkey ready for cruises & shows. Extremely nice. These x100s were produced for only two years, 1969 and 1970. They were Mercury's entry into the powerful personal luxury car race and competition to Pontiac's Grand Prix. Mercury fitted them with their high performance 429 engine and heavy-duty drivetrain, largest disc brakes, alloy wheels, hide-away headlights, finder skirts, sweeping rear sail panels, and two-tone paint. They drive & ride like a luxury car but have the power of a muscle car; with that classic 60's look They have virtually all disappeared and are now rarely seen. Very neat car.
