THIS ICONIC DELOREAN IS PERHAPS THE LOWEST MILEAGE 1983 DMC-12 SURVIVOR ON THE MARKET TODAY!

This is an exceptional 1,543 Mile “Collector Quality” 1983 DeLorean DMC-12, 5-Speed “Survivor” that has been extremely well maintained and cared for and has been garaged its entire life!

Few other cars are as iconic as the DeLorean, the stainless-steel gullwing sports car manufactured in Northern Ireland from 1981-1983. The stainless-steel bodywork was designed by Giugiaro and is mounted to a fiberglass inner structure and a steel backbone chassis derived from that of the Lotus Esprit. The gullwing doors are supported by cryogenically-preset torsion bars and feature inset double-panel side windows. The factory turbine-style aluminum wheels measure 14″ in diameter up front and 15″ at the rear, and the stock Goodyear NCT-HR60 tires measure 195/60 and 235/60 respectively.

The DeLorean is one of the most highly sought-after collectibles worldwide. Originally the brainchild of John Z. DeLorean, (the GM executive responsible for the Pontiac GTO) John had a different idea of what a sports/GT car could be. In stark contrast to the American Muscle cars of the 60's and early 70's, his forward-thinking design envisioned a lightweight 2-seater car with a rear mounted dual overhead cam V6. The rear-mounted 2.85-liter PRV V6 was designed jointly by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo. The engine featured factory ratings of 130 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque in DeLorean specification, and it is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a movie star for a day? Well, if you drive a DeLorean, you're going to find out what they go through every time you're in it. No other car gets a reaction like the DeLorean does. Everywhere a DeLorean goes it draws a crowd.

This DeLorean is the preferred 1983 last year production, and also has the preferred black interior and preferred 5-speed manual transmission. It is powered by its original 2.85-liter V6 engine. A very positive aspect is that the parts are readily available and the stainless-steel body will never rust.

This 1983 DeLorean DMC-12 was first sold new on July 11, 1984, to a couple living in Sandy, Utah for the wife to drive on weekends. It was driven very sparingly, babied, exceptionally well maintained and always garaged. In fact, not only was this DeLorean never driven in the rain, it has never even had a water hose turned on it! Through most of the 1990’s, the wife’s health was very poor so the weekend cruises became nonexistent. After she passed away, around 2000, the husband wanted to keep the car as a time capsule (no pun intended). To the old man, it was worth the most to him exactly as it was when she was still alive. Sitting in a chair in the garage and just looking at it made him happy.

The interior is totally original, and the original black leather seats and light gray carpeting still look brand new. It retains all of the original factory parts, including the steering wheel, the original AM/FM cassette deck, floor mats, air conditioning, 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage, etc. The odometer shows just 1,542 miles that is the true total miles this DeLorean has been driven since new. The original factory tool kit is included with the car and is stored in the front compartment. An extra set of still plastic-wrapped new factory floor mats is included in the sale. Unbelievably, this DeLorean retains its original factory installed tires that still appear as new with absolutely no signs of age whatsoever! Also included is the original DMC fitted car cover and brand-new black vinyl DMC front bug/stone guard.

The trunk is all original and in pristine condition! It contains its original as-new carpeting, an original spare tire, jack, tools, stone guard, car cover, etc.

All of the work needed to make this DeLorean road worthy has been performed. The work included installation of a new battery, cleaning of the fuel tank, new stock fuel pump assembly, a replacement fuel filter, six new fuel injectors, replacement of the original rubber fuel lines with black steel-braided lines, and the rebuilding by DMC of the Bosch fuel distributor. New spark plugs, distributor, support struts and lambda sensor were also installed. A coolant flush and an oil change using a DMC filter were done. The brake system was gone through that included the cleaning of the brake lines, new front & rear brake hoses, and rebuilding of the brake calipers. With the exception of the battery, all replacement components were sourced from DMC, and original components are included with the vehicle.

This final-year DMC-12 is offered with all documentation from new! That includes the window sticker, finance statement, manufacturer’s literature, registration paperwork, miscellaneous documents dating back to 1984, etc. Also included are service books, DeLorean magazines, original car cover, new extra set of floor mats, etc., and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

This DeLorean is worthy of being in any enthusiast’s collection, and will please even the most discriminating buyer!
