Untouched Car, 1972 Toyota Celica ST Coupe For Sale By Owner

So here’s an original first-generation Celica, an untouched example offered for sale on Craigslist looking for a new owner. Long considered Japan’s version of the Mustang, the 1972 Toyota Celica ST Coupe featured here is said to be a dry, rust-free survivor. At fifty-one years of age, this Celica presents well and is in mint condition, with just 37K original miles.

The first-generation Celica was made as seriously as possible by Toyota to convince the general public that it was a serious car. Toyota did try to deliver a tough appearance on the Celica that tried to take the heart of the American market, where the Mustang’s top reputation at that time.

The Japanese are trying to build a reputation in the US from this machinery, the first-generation Celica was perhaps one of the more formidable attempts by Toyota to make a reliable engine and low-cost on the operated. Under the hood is a 2.0 liter 18R Inline 4 engine mated with a manual transmission that runs well, the second owner revealed. Thanks to sitting for so long, it has a leak on the radiator (needs work), the brake system needs new bled, and has been done is, replacing the original carburetor with a new carburetor, also a new battery.

1972 Toyota Celica ST Coupe Interior

The interior condition shows that a very rarely used car, all look great and clean for its age, some photos proving the black upholstery has held up quite well. The interior has a similar accent as the Mustang, a concave circle with wood motifs that look dominant in the dash, bucket seats with the center console layout, and shifter gear and hand brake on it. Hope all instruments and the radio work properly.

In the early 70s, the Calica was designed to entice US customers smitten by the first-generation Mustang, but the budget less, we think it's quite working, as evidenced by the many Calicas enthusiasts in the US today. So if you want to reminisce about the early Mustang from the East, this is a correct first-generation Calica in its original condition. It is easy to make it a touch more fun if this specimen returns to pave, like this sample.

Detail by owner
For Sale by Owner (private party sale) Location: Folsom CA 95630 (NorCal) This is my 72’ Toyota Celica ST Coupe with a 4-speed manual transmission. This car is truly a gem and time capsule. Only 1-OWNER before me! It has been stored in a climate controlled garage since September of 1995 on jack-stands, thus how it has been preserved so well. All original- paint- body- panels- glass- no accidents. The only “modification” it has would be a brand new Weber Carburetor, as the original was DONE after sitting for so many years. It runs, and fired right up (brand new battery, and fresh fluids) BUT, the brake system needs to be bled/ gone thru from sitting for so long, as well as a coolant leak coming from the original radiator to be attended to also. You can drive the car around the block, but wouldn’t suggest going much further. I just paid the registration, now good until 2024. This car, in the condition it is in, is 1 of a kind! It is an original, untouched car! Cash only! Not looking for trades, or trading. If you want to take it for a spin around the block, bring proof of funds and a valid drivers license, thanks! Any more questions? Feel free to call.
