Camping Conversion, 1977 Dodge Tradesman Van For Sale

Found this one being offered for sale by the owner on craigslist for $4,500 in Everett, Washington. This American classic fully-size passenger van upon Chrysler B platform under the Dodge brand well known as Tradesman released in 1977 has been fully rebuilt and undergoing converted into a light camper. It could be perfect as a family weekend car, if you're interested, a closer inspection is necessary.

About this Van
We are selling our 1977 Dodge Van, which was on its way to a light camping conversion. The plan was to sleep in the van while exploring the West Coast, but careers and life are taking us down a different road.

This is the Tradesman model with sliding doors and wraparound windows.

The body is solid with very few, small rust spots in the usual fender areas.

The engine - a 318 cubic inch V8 - was rebuilt approximately 45,000 miles ago, and is as clean as they come. Side pipes make some nice sounds as she cruises smoothly down the road.

We did a bit of interior work, must notably a click in laminate floor and insulation in the side panels. The front floor pans have also been cleaned up and covered with insulated metal sheeting. We also started to replace door rubber seals in the back, and have brand new seals ready to install in the rest.

Note that the seats are in great shape; the covers are really just decorative and groovy.

There is a rear bumper that could be put on, as well as a newer chromed rear bumper that would need to be adapted to fit properly. If you know your way around sheet metal, this van would be an 8 out of ten pretty easily.

The red wheels are a nice accent and get a ton of compliments. Tires are in great shape.

The van also comes with a handyman roof rack. It’s not currently on, but comes with the purchase. We thought it would make a really cool rooftop deck with a few teak slats and a small gas grill.

Everything works as it should - 3 speed transmission, blinkers and lights, and power steering.

This is not a speedster, but gets along nicely at a highway pace once it gets going. It’s been driven back and forth to Portland and Bend several times, with no issues.

The only thing I would tackle immediately is a new starter, as the van can be a bit reluctant when things get cold.

Spare tire and rack, additional bumper, and the hot dog antenna decoration come with a full price offer.

This has been a fun project for father and son, and could be a great runabout or camper for your family!
