1965 Plymouth Satellite Hardtop

1965 Plymouth Satellite Hardtop For Sale

This two-door hardtop offered by Plymouth, as the picture is early first generation of the Satellite was released in 1965 come in black has been fully restored. This rare and excellent MOPAR looking for new owner.

Detail about this Mopar
Here is your opportunity to own one of the finest 1965 Satellites available...Period! Over 1000 man hours and $75,000 has been invested in the rebirth of this rare MOPAR. This automobile has just undergone a one year rotisserie nut 'n bolt restoration at The Garaj Mahal restoration shop. You can check out their work at www,thegarajmahal.com. The Car is at the Mecum Auction this weekend at the State Fair Grounds.

Found in a storage barn in East Tennessee where it had been resting for many years. The story, as I was told, is she spent her entire life as a race car in the Midwest which would explain the super low miles on the odometer...50007 She was wearing a low budget copper paint job when we found her, but hiding underneath was the hemi orange lacquer paint she must have used in her race campaign.
Upon our initial tear down we found the welded on tow bar support brackets, frame connectors and the rare Chrysler super-stock rear end which supports the story.

The Restoration:
For starters we stripped her naked to expose any possible issues, and were surprised to find only a few. The team at The Garaj Mahal (TGM) carefully cut out any rust and replaced the areas with OEM ($$) patch panels. The full body massage started with many hours spent getting ready for the "9300" black base color, and 4 coats of DuPont 7900 clear coat. Hand/machine buffing and polishing of all stainless trim that had been preserved so well over the years took place. All chrome was sent out for high-quality replating. The interior is the masterpiece of Legendary Interiors, and internal TGM team. It is absolutely magnificent.

The shining highlight of this automobile is the drive train. The original 361 was long gone so we had PMS, LLC (PMS) put together a 440 magnum that would be a thrill to hear, and easy to drive. PMS used mostly MOPAR Performance parts along with Comp Cams custom ground cam made to original "purple cam" specs and valve train. The DYNO report shows an impressive 415 HP and 510 fl/lbs of torque. The suspension was kept period correct right down to the drum brakes, although we did upgrade to a dual master cylinder.

All-in-all a very impressive, investment grade vehicle, that deserves a home where she will be kept and driven in this magnificent condition.
